Hello and welcome to Urban Avenues! I’m Jamie Trufin, a former resident of the sprawling beige cookie-cutter suburbs of Phoenix. In my childhood neighborhood, houses were confined to just four floor plans, each as plain and unremarkable as the next. I found myself grappling with a stark absence of community, creativity, and an overwhelming sense of isolation. Despite the norm of car-centric living in Phoenix, I made the conscious choice to embrace a car-free lifestyle, transitioning to a more walkable part of the city. Urban Avenues emerged from my deep passion for urbanism and a strong desire to share my experiences, knowledge, and discoveries with others.
Why Urban Avenues?
Urban Avenues developed from my realization that urbanism holds countless fascinating facets and topics to explore. Through this blog, I aim to delve into these various aspects while inviting others to share their stories and expertise. Learning about all things relating to urbanism has always left me on a rabbit hole of content discovery. I hope that the content here will leave you feeling the same way. I am looking forward to growing in this space and just as cities constantly evolve, so will Urban Avenues.
